St Michael & All Angels Church, Merthyr Rd, Cardiff wedding photography

St Michael and All Angels Church is an Anglican church in the village of Tongwynlais, South Wales, it was opened in February 1877. By the way, St Michael’s sister church is the church of St Mary and St James in Taff’s Well where I photographed Sally and Brandon’s big day in December 2021.

Alice and Vanya had their beautiful wedding ceremony at St Michael and All Angels Church in the village of Tongwynlais, Cardiff. I tried my best to capture the essential moments of the ceremony, though it wasn’t easy, as there are some photography restrictions at this church, and even some parts of the service can’t be photographed (ring exchange and vows). After the ceremony we headed to the Castle Coch (Castell Coch) grounds to take some photos of the newlyweds, and then drove to the reception venue (Llechwen hall hotel).

After the bride and groom arrived, it was time for reception drinks, mingling, group photographs, and some nice photos of the newlyweds. Then the wedding breakfast followed, and the lovely speeches! All the speeches were absolutely amazing – full of fun, emotional, Vanya’s mother read Ukrainian poetry, and Vanya translated it. Alice had a nice speech, and in the course of it she mentioned how important hugs are, and asked the guests to hug each other. It was so emotional! She also donated her wedding bouquet to her grandmother and asked to split the flowers and bring those to the great grandparents’ graves.

As both Alice and Vanya are teachers, I am assuming the table centrepieces (showing the pieces where Alice and Vanya had visited together), were made and drawn by school children.

I am pleased to share these Llechwen hall wedding photographs with you.

There are quite a few weddings I photographed at Llechwen hall before ( and I have many upcoming bookings there as well), here are just a few:

And also some Llechwen hall wedding videography highlights (Alice and Vanya’s wedding).
