Oxwich bay wedding photography
Juliette and her bridesmaids were getting ready at the bridal suite overlooking the gorgeous Oxwich bay. By the way, Oxwich Beach has been named as “Britain’s Best Beach” and one of the “Twelve Best Beaches in the World.” Located within a very short walking distance from the beach, The Oxwich Bay Hotel is an ideal location for a great wedding day.
Initially, the weather forecast for the day was awful (it was October, and was supposed to rain all day long). But a few days before the wedding day the forecast unexpectedly changed. So the bride and groom enjoyed the sunny weather. It was cold and windy though… But when you are getting married by the beach, it is better than rain, isn’t it?
Juliette had quite a complicated hairstyle. It was kind of 2 styles in one: one for the day and another one for the evening reception. She was helped by her lady guest (who did the hair) to take the right pins out just before the first dance.
Wedding ceremony – Oxwich bay hotel, Swansea, Gower
The wedding ceremony took place in the Chestnut Room. This spacious room has the part of the original eighteenth-century stonework exposed. And it, among the log burner and woodwork, creates a great cozy and rustic atmosphere. Also during the ceremony, Juliette’s brother played amazing piano music.
After the service guests headed outside, whilst I went back up to the bridal suite, opened the huge window, and took the whole party group shot from above. We then had a very short walk towards the marquee to take some group and family shots there. As I already mentioned the wind was extremely cold, so some of the guests decided to remain at the marquee (and I don’t blame them). And the rest of the wedding party headed down the beach, where the photography session followed.
I only have to admire the high level of the bride and groom’s cold resistance. They were happy to spend some time in the cold water barefoot. And I need to admit that their beach wedding photo shots are simply amazing. Honestly speaking, the same is the rest of the photos taken during other parts of the day.
Oxwich bay hotel marquee reception
The wedding reception took place at the Marquee, which was offering great panoramic views of Oxwich Bay. Most ornaments and other things the couple’s family did themselves (fudge favours by the bride’s Granny, the amazing Cake by her Mum, sweets, decorations, etc. – all by them).
The speeches were simply amazing and absolutely funny. Unfortunately, the bride’s dad was stuck in Australia (because of COVID travel restrictions). So he had to have his speech from Australia via Zoom call.
Swansea and Gower wedding photographer
It was my first time photographing a wedding at Oxwich bay hotel. And hopefully not the last one, as I have some weddings booked there in 2022. It all depends on COVID-related restrictions, but let’s hope 2022 will be another busy year for all wedding photographers and other suppliers. If you are thinking of getting married in Gower, I am happy to join you. As a wedding photographer apparently.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
