St Isan’s Church, Llanishen, Cardiff wedding ceremony

Jodie and Jordan got married at St Isan’s church in Cardiff. The church has quite an interesting history behind – Saint Isan reached what is now Llanishen (Cardiff district) in 535 or 537 AD, and established a ‘llan’ (enclosure) at the site. This would have consisted of a primitive structure which served as both a church and as accommodation for visitors.  The first mention of a proper church at the location dates from the 12th century. The church grew together with the population of Llanishen, and nowadays is a great church and a great place to be married at.

The ceremony was lovely, with so many friends and family members present. And so many lovely babies and children.  After the ceremony it was time for confetti, group photos at the church porch, and some lovely photos of the bride and groom.

Llanishen golf club wedding reception

The reception took place at Llanishen golf club. I photographed there before (Kay and Dave’s big day at Llanishen golf club), and absolutely loved to work at the venue again. I also took some photos for the Llanishen golf club annual brochure a few years ago.

Llanishen golf was known as Lisvane Golf Club in the early 1900’s, the club adopted its new title of Llanishen Golf Club in 1905.  The club was shortlisted for Wales Golf Club of the year in 2018 and won the prestigious GCMA Team of the Year award in November 2019, beating over 2500 other golf clubs.

The golf course looks absolutely lovely, and there’s plenty of spots for beautiful wedding photos at Llanishen golf club. The weather on the day was rainy, and we had only a few short possibilities to take photos outdoors.
