West End Congregational Church wedding ceremony

Alysha and Scott had an absolutely wonderful wedding ceremony at West End Congregational Church in Ebbw Vale. The Chapel was built in 1907.

Initially the couple planned to get married at another church, but finally decided to tie the knot at their local church. And was the best decision imho. The ceremony was conducted by the vicar who knows the couple and their families, so it was very personal and so “tailored” for this special couple. Alysha had a chance to sing a beautiful song, and it was such a breathtaking moment, especially for Scott, he couldn’t hold from crying.

As there are not many picturesque places nearby the church, the couple decided to go somewhere else and chose Cyfarthfa Park in Merthyr Tydfil. I need to say the couple was really lucky, as just a few hours before the ceremony the weather wasn’t great – it was raining. But when we reached the park, the skies had cleared, and it was so warm and sunny! Cyfarthfa Park in Merthyr Tydfil is a really beautiful place, there’s a castle surrounded by park, and it’s a lovely place for wedding photographs.

Cyfarthfa Castle was built  in 1824-25 for ‘The Ironmaster’ William Crawshay II, who was one of the most influential men in Wales at the time. Nowadays it’s a Museum and Art Gallery which is open to the public.

The Guest Keen Merthyr Tydfil wedding reception

Alysha and Scott’s wedding reception took place at the Guest Keen in Merthyr, previously known as The Guest Memorial Library and Reading Room. It was built in 1863 by Sir Charles Berry, who also designed part of the Houses of Parliament. The design was based on the Greek Parthenon. The reception was absolutely lovely, and I felt like a part of the family! The speeches were so lovely, I really enjoyed this part of the reception.
