Castell Coch wedding photography
Castell Coch is regularly voted by the public as their favourite building in Wales. It is an 19th-century Gothic Revival castle built above the village of Tongwynlais. The first castle on the site was built by the Normans after 1081 to protect the newly conquered town of Cardiff.
Rhian and Liam’s wedding day was filled with so much love and joy. They got married in December at Castle Coch in Cardiff. The day itself was as rainy as it could be in December, but we were fortunate and had around 1 hour of “dry” weather to have some beautiful photos by the castle and Fforest Fawr nearby. It was also the Winter Solstice wedding, there was the longest night of the year ahead, but what a meaning it has – it is the last darkest day of the year, meaning the return of the sun and the coming spring!
Castell Coch winter wedding
Everyone was in such a relaxed, happy mood and it showed in their photos. The ceremony was truly touching, with so many heartfelt moments shared by the couple, their families and friends.

I also photographed another Castell Coch wedding – Nina and Beth Haloween wedding at Castle Coch.
I hope you enjoy both these Halloween and Solstice wedding highlights, and please don’t hesitate to contact me if you are getting married at Castell Coch.
